It was International Women's Day earlier this week so I would like to take a moment to celebrate the women of the library!

Of course there's me, Adele and Jess (I would be a mess without both of them) but we also have a huge pile of fantastic volunteers who keep the library running smoothly (or as smooth as we every get, we're a bit of a raucous pirate ship at the best of times).
I try to frequently say how fanastic the volunteers are because it cannot be said enough how grateful we are for all the stuff they do (from the small things they don't realise they are doing, to the big stuff!).
But there's more women than that involved in the library because the people who visit the library are predominently women too. A common theme amoing visitors is that parenting can be very challening in modern society, people often come and just declare that they needs hands to do stuff (even if it's 'just' eating and peeing).
Mothers are often the ones doing the majority of child care (and don't panic, we haven't forgotten fantastic fathers, they'll get a shout out in November!), we're the top of the call list from school and we're frequently expected to divide ourselves into multiple pieces.
And yet we're all absolutely rocking it, especially on those days when we feel like we are decided not rocking it (because we're also humans, and allowed to have bad days, plus noticing the bad days is in itself, a form of rocking it!).
So keep on doing your thing and we'll keep on doing ours!
